The competition is open to all the primary and secondary schools in Townsville
that offer French as an additional language.
Students can enter one (1) or all four (4) categories,
which are poem, song, cartoon and the Julie Ratliff* Prize.

*Julie Ratliff was a French teacher at the Townsville Grammar school, long-time secretary of the Alliance Française, English teacher at the English Language Centre at James Cook University and key participant in the running of the Migrant Resource Centre.

Every year, Alliance Française de Townsville awards the highest achieving James Cook University students from the Townsville campus. The awards are for each year level of French study and for students of non-francophone descent.

The Alliance Française de Townsville is a proud sponsor of the Townsville Speech Contest, a school competition organised and run by the French Teachers’ Network of Townsville (FTNT). The Alliance Française de Townsville has committed to providing prizes to the 3 winners in each grade (6 to 12).
